Intel SSD 320 Series Firmware Problems The Intel 320 series of SSD drives suffer from a firmware problem that was first diagnosed in 2011. Our engineers are working on a fix to this problem and have seen drives with SMART errors. |
The fault usually manifests itself after a power cycle or power fault and has been reported in the Intel Community forums as "SSD Power Loss fault" or "Bad Context 13x Error". Once power is restored to the computer, the drive reports as 8Mb and the data is inaccessible.
Capacities of 320 series are 40GB, 80GB, 120GB, 160GB, 300GB and 600GB
Update: 25 July 2011
Fault appears to be a problem in the SMART log. We can currently recover these drives using standard NAND flash recovery techniques, but we are looking to repair these to make recovery quicker. Updates will be added to this site as our research continues.
