Ok, you have just bought a shiny new computer and you plug in your password protected Maxtor One Touch Hard Disk.. Nothing happens.. So how can you access your data on the new computer ...

If you plug your Maxtor one touch into another computer and are unable to get access to the data then the security settings need changing. To do this please follow the following instructions.

You will need access to your old computer in order to perform the following.

1. Plug the Maxtor one touch into your old computer
2. Right click on the Maxtor Drive icon and choose Open
3. You will see Main Menu with 3 Options to choose from
   • Setup & Restore
   • Drive Management
   • Security Settings
4. Choose Security Settings
5. From the two options - 'Change Password' and 'Disable Security' Select Disable Security
6. Enter the original password you used when you set up the one touch on the computer.
7. Click 'Apply'

You should now see a message indicating that you have removed the security from the drive. It will now be accessible on your new computer.
